We humans. We amazing and fickle humans. We forget the miracle that we are as evidenced by man’s own inhumanity towards man (use of gender intentional). I’m choosing life, light, and love too, Gary. Sure would be nice if more humans across the planet would join in. “You really only have two choices in life: love or fear. Choose love, and don’t ever let fear take you away from your playful heart.” ~ Jim Carrey
By the way, I’m also a huge fan of Margaret Wheatley (in fact, will be quoting from her in my own post later this week!). It was fun, though no surprise the more I witness our shared passions, to see you reference her as well.
Thanks, Kert. I think we sing the same songs or we’re reading the same script. Regardless, I welcome your company along this journey and appreciate your responses. Kindred spirits, we are.
Thank you, Gary, for your wise observations. You speak from experience. And I enjoyed the linked article. I had never heard of Margaret Wheatley so now I do. All we can do is take things one day at a time, hopefully in the direction of love and peace.
Thanks, Katherine. Yes, experience is a great teacher and if we could learn the lessons from history, we wouldn’t, as George Santyana said, be condemned to repeat them. We would do well to link ourselves with other creatures without boundaries and learn from them as well. They may have territories but few kill their own kind.
Thanks for this timely read Gary. It's interesting that our Constitution was in part based on the Iroquois Confederacy, among other things. May we continue to have our inalienable rights and may we all find peace, compassion and understanding in the days, weeks, months and years to come. Enjoy your travels.
Hi Gary - I think we all hope that the next generation will do things better, but so far they just seem to do things differently - better takes sacrifice and love, and often those in power are sadly lacking in both. I've decided for my own sanity to focus on where I can make a difference - rather than railing against the "big" stuff, I choose to be a kind presence in my small corner of the world. I want to make sure that I've invested love and care into my family and wherever else there's an opportunity. It's small, but if everyone did that, the world would be a kinder and gentler place.
Yes, and even if "everyone" can't manage to exhibit more kindness, compassion and caring, if more and more could shift to that behavior, the world would indeed be a happier, healthier and safer place. We do what we can, were we are with what we have, and if we need more, it's OK to ask.
Thank you Gary. I am going with you on..."For now, I’m going with compassion, kindness and love, even toward those with whom I disagree". This seems like the only sane choice. In me it feels something of a surrender to the notion that something most precious will arise via love, despite a great deal of apparent "evidence" to the contrary.

Great insights from you on this as always. :)
