Gary- I love the concept of Desire Quotient. Coupled with these insights about Vanguard, there’s something very cohesive about the way you put everything together. A wonderful read.
Gary, it was great meeting you today on the cohort call. When I saw the title of this post, I had to click on it because that phrase has been etched into my brain. I worked at Vanguard for 13 years. Mr. Bogle was my boss’s boss (my grandboss?), and I did some writing for him. I knew him, but not as well as you did. I really enjoyed reading about your memories of him, as well as the refresher on Vanguard’s history.
I think of that phrase often as it applies to so much we encounter along the way. I had it in mind when I wrote another post called “Now What?” also related to a boat, a much smaller one!
I appreciate your newsletter, Gary. I used to have money in Vanguard, but I didn't know this part of their history. Yes, we all need to press on through adversities and struggles in life. I have experienced unforeseeable and life-altering circumstances in my life this past decade which have not been easy by any stretch. But I am facing them head on and am determined to come out the other side once again wiser and stronger for the experience, as stressful as it has been. Enjoy your Saturday!
Good morning, Richard. There is only one boat and we're all in it. So, yes, it's all of us and our encounters with life as we find it. Press on, my friend.

Thanks. How in the world did you find or happen to see these older posts? I appreciate your response.

Thanks, Susan. We’re doing what we can while we can, with what we have, where we are. Happy June to you.
Your "formidable challenges" is everyone. Or is it just me : )
